Two University of Minnesota Duluth football players were named to the 2023 Conference Commissioner's Association All-Super Region 4 Football Teams last week, as senior tight end Sam Pitz was selected to the CCA All-Super Region 4 First Team, and graduate offensive lineman Treyvon Cahalan earned CCA All-Super Region 4 Second Team honors.
Pitz, a three-time NSIC All Conference selection -- including two First Team nods after he picked up the award again last month -- posted the most offensive season of his career. The native of Appleton, Wis. caught nine touchdowns passes in 2023, dwarfing his TD output of his first three seasons combined. Pitz had 25 receptions for 356 yards in 11 games -- good for a 14.2 yards per catch average.
Cahalan, from Champlin, Minn., became a two-time NSIC First Team selection last month, which secured conference honors for all four seasons he competed for the Bulldogs. Cahalan was pivotal in UMD's rushing offense that led the NSIC and ranked seventh in the nation over the regular season, averaging 243.8 yards a game. He also blocked for the NSIC's top rushing TD player, Walljasper, who put up 16 rushing touchdowns in 11 games.
