UMD Cross Country Comes Home with 10th and 14th Place Finishes at the Lewis Crossover Invite
The University of Minnesota Duluth cross country programs take home a 10th place team finish in the Men's 8k and a 14th place finish in the Women's 6k in this year's Lewis Crossover Invite.
This year's Lewis Invite, hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, marked the eighth year of this regional crossover competition. UMD held onto some strong middle of the pack finishes, finishing in 10th place with an overall score of 288 in the Men's 8k race and finishing in 14th place with an overall score of 447 in the Women's 6k race.
Senior and conference Athlete to Watch Jack Van Kempen led the pack for UMD today, finishing 38th overall with a total time of 24:50.6. Graduate student Lucas Selman would finish not too far behind in 40th place with an overall time of 24:53.0. Senior Owen Dickenson (53rd - 25:00.0), senior Austin Antony (58th - 25:02.5), and senior Nick Jacobson (100th - 25:23.6) rounded out UMD's scoring positions.
Senior and conference Athlete to Watch Lauryn Renier spearheaded the group for the UMD women today, finishing 60th overall with a total time of 22:33.5. Senior Franny Seidel would cross next for UMD, finishing in 86th overall with a total time of 22:54.8. Junior Savannah Schley (90th - 22:56.6), graduate student Anna Palodichuk (107th - 23:05.5), and sophomore Elizabeth VanLoon (139th - 23:26.4) capped off the UMD scoring positions in this competition.
