The University of Minnesota Duluth softball team stretched its Spring Games unbeaten streak to four games Wednesday, picking up a 3-1 win against Notre Dame College before defeating the University of Missouri - St. Louis 6-1 in Winter Haven, Fla.

In the first game, which was delayed ahead of time almost four hours due to overnight rain, the Falcons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off a bases loaded walk. Held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, the Bulldogs scored three runs when Nicole Schmitt homered to left center to put UMD out front 3-1.

Freshman pitcher Maddy Walsh earned her third win of the season (3-0) and threw six strikeouts from the mound. Schmitt led all Bulldog batters, going 3-of-3 in the contest, a season-best for the junior, whose home run was also her second of the year.

In game two, UMD got ahead early and never looked back to triumph over the Tritons. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the second inning off a sacrifice fly from Kenal Jenkins, as well as two left field singles by Kate Mohr and Morgan McMillian. UMSL got on the board in the bottom of the third, but the Bulldogs increased their lead to 4-1 when Mohr stole second and Johnson stole home in the top of the fourth. A double to right center by Tori Wietgrefe scored Sierra Thomas in the top of the third, followed by Corrie Weise's sixth UMD run after a throwing error by the Tritons. Mohr was 3-of-3 from the plate for a Bulldog hitting high.

Senior pitcher Lauren Dixon earned her seventh win of the season and improved to 7-2 on the season.

The Bulldogs (14-5) wait a day to put their four-game winning streak on the line when will face Northwood University Friday at 11:30 a.m. CT before going up against Saint Anselm at 1:30 p.m. CT.
