UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Classroom

Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community. 

The University of Minnesota Duluth soccer team had three players named to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District Team. Sophomore Miriam Marsan, junior Anna Tobias, and senior Jackie Jares were named.

CSC "recognize[s] the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom" through their Academic Team Awards. 

Marsan is majoring in exercise science. In her second season at UMD, she played in all 19 games, scoring five goals and totaling 12 points. Marsan was second on her team in individual points. 

Tobias started the entire season for the Bulldogs, while excelling in her studies as a marketing major. She tied Marsan in goals and points. She also broke the NCAA DII record for fastest hat trick this season (68 seconds).

Jares also had success on and off the field, leading UMD with eight goals and a career-high 22 points. Meanwhile, she thrived in her chemical engineering courses. Jares also received recognition as a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week earlier this season.

All Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on Wednesday, December 20.
