Bulldogs Again Set Records on the Indoor Track at the Maverick Premier #1
Friday was another successfu day on the indoor track for the University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's indoor track teams in Mankato, Minn. at the Meyers Field House on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Top highlights included big results for both teams in the 800 meters, including a meet record from junior Finn Youberg with a winning time of 1:55:79, which also stands as the fourth fastest time run in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference this season, and a second place finish from graduate Jordan Gruenes. On the women's side, Savannah Schley ran to a provisional time of 2:14:22, which placed the junior second overall and is the second-fastest time run in the even this season in the conference
In the field events, fifth-year senior Kayce Gielski threw to a second place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 16.94m.
The Bulldogs men's team took second in the meet, and besides Youberg, had another meet record set in the 3,000 meters by senior Austin Anthony, whose PR of 8:34.72 won the event. UMD finished 1-2 in the race, with senior Owen Dickenson finishing second with a PR of 8:35:11. Senior Nick Jacobson also won the one mile in a PR time of 4:17:77.
Like the men's 3.000 meter race, the UMD women also went 1-2, as senior Lauryn Renier earned a PR and first place with a time of 10:19:80, and sophomore Eve Anderson ran to a second place PR time of 10:26:71.
