Podiums a Plenty for the Bulldogs in Final Day of NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship
The University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's indoor track teams wrapped up the second day of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with 20 podium performances, including four top-three finishes. Both Bulldog squads finished fifth overall in the meet.
Fifth-year senior Jacqi Rae had a monster day, placing third in the shot put with a provisional throw of 13.73 meters after finishing fourth and locking in a provisional score of 3,397 points in the pentathlon. Rae's pentathlon performance included a 13.55m throw, good for first, and a fourth place long jump of 5.22 meters.
Nick Jacobson ran a PR time of 4:14:59 in the mile, which landed the senior a third place finish. UMD had another third place finish, courtesy of junior Savannah Schley, who finished with a time of 2:13:48 – six seconds ahead of teammate Francine Seidel, who crossed the line in fifth with a time of 2:19:72.
The Bulldogs got another third place finish from Finn Youberg in the 800 meters. The junior ran a time of 1:56:39, followed by teammate Jordan Grueness, who finished in fourth in 1:57:17.
