Bulldogs Claim Six Podium Finishes on NSIC Indoor Track and Field Championship Day One
It was a great opening day for both University of Minnesota Duluth men's and women's indoor teams Friday at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship at the Myers Fieldhouse in Mankato, Minn.
The Bulldogs had two second place finishes that also qualified as provisional performances -- the women's distance medley of Rachel Ulrich, Kate Fitzgerald, Savannah Schley and Francine Seidel ran down a 11:52:57 -- the 21st fastest time run so far this season in all of the NCAA. In the men's weight throw, senior Eli Bicek threw to a provisional distance of 18.27 and second place.
The men's team had four other podium finishes -- a fourth place men's distance medley with a time of 10:12.36 from Nick Jacobson, Ted Rogers, Jordan Gruenes and Owen Dickenson, as well as a fourth place finish in the 5,000 meters from Austin Antony in 14:59.28. Jack Van Kempen ran to fifth place in the 5,000 meters( 14:59.68), while Jackson Weston earned seventh place with a weight throw of 17.14 meters.
The Bulldog will do it all again tomorrow in Mankato on day two of the NSIC Championship meet. For a full schedule for Saturday, click here.
