UMD Bulldogs "ALLETE" Moments: Community

Throughout this year, UMD Athletics is partnering with Minnesota Power, ALLETE to highlight the Bulldogs accomplishments in the 3 C's: Classroom, Competition, Community. 

University of Minnesota Duluth men's hockey senior Darian Gotz was named the National Collegiate Hockey Conference 2023-24 Sportsmanship Award winner Thursday. 

The conference announced the winners of all twelve individual awards at the NCHC Awards Celebration in St. Paul, Minn., ahead of the Frozen Four Tournament. The Sportsmanship Award is voted on by conference groups and staff. 

The defenseman played in 37 games for the Bulldogs this season, totaling six assists. 

Gotz is the fourth UMD player to win the award since the 2013-14 season. The last Bulldog to win the award was Kobe Roth (2019-20). The other two previous winners from UMD are Karson Kuhlman (2017-18) and Cal Decowski (2015-16).
