BULLDOG MEN LEAD THE PACK IN FINAL NSIC TUNE-UP

The University of Minnesota Duluth men's cross country team received its final tune-up ahead of this month's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Championships as the Bulldogs competed at the Trent Smith Invitational on the campus of North Iowa Area Community College on Friday afternoon, finishing first in the 12- team field.

MASON CITY, Iowa -- The University of Minnesota Duluth men's cross country team received its final tune-up ahead of this month's Northern Sun Intercollegiate Championships as the Bulldogs competed at the Trent Smith Invitational on the campus of North Iowa Area Community College on Friday afternoon, finishing first in the 12- team field.

The Bulldogs claimed six of the top-10 finishes in the 8K men's race at the event, including a second overall finish from junior Cole Lebourgeois at 26:24. UMD followed with senior Jake Kluver fourth (26:27), sophomore Jonathan Tostenson sixth (26:28), sophomore Matthew Trutna seventh (26:28), junior Braydon Kubat eighth (26:32), and freshman Nick Jacobson tenth (26:37).

The Bulldogs edged out NSIC rival Minnesota State University Mankato with 27 points to the Mavericks' 49. Concordia University St. Paul finished third in the field with the Golden Bears' Benjamin Allen taking first place overall with a time of 26:15.

UMD heads to Wayne, Nebraska for the NSIC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26 on the campus of Wayne State College. Opening gun for the men's race is currently slated for 11 a.m.
