Bulldogs Set to Make Season Debut at Bulldog Park, Baseball Prepares for Five Game Week Against Winona State and Crookston
The University of Minnesota Duluth baseball team returns to action this week, taking on the Winona State University Warriors before their weekend series on the road with the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles going into the final weeks of their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) regular season schedule.
The Season So Far
Bulldog baseball went 3-2 in games last week, taking one game off of the St. Cloud State University Huskies and and coming out on top in a three game series against the Minot State University Beavers.
Freshman outfielders Tanner Albeck and Garrett Stauffacher both had a big week on the diamond for the Bulldogs. Albeck held a 1.000 FLD% with six putouts while also hitting 2-10 from the plate, including a game winning solo home run in extra innings over SCSU. Stauffacher held a 1.000 FLD% with three putouts while also hitting 5-9 from the plate, including an RBI triple turned inside-the-park home run in their win over Minot State.
The Bulldogs now move into a 16-23 overall record and a 12-18 conference record throughout the 2024 season. UMD now sits at 10th place in the NSIC standings, grappling for a top eight spot with the University of Sioux Falls and Concordia St. Paul in order to qualify for the conference tournament.
Scouting Report - Winona State University
The Winona State University Warriors currently hold an overall record of 15-25 and a conference record of 12-18, strong enough for 11th place in the NSIC standings just behind UMD. The Bulldogs are 13-26 against the Warriors since 2013, most recently falling to them 3-5 in the 2023 season in Mauston, WI.
Scouting Report - University of Minnesota Crookston
The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles currently hold an overall record of 25-13 and a conference record of 19-9, strong enough for fourth place in the NSIC standings. The Bulldogs are 15-13 against the Golden Eagles since 2013, most recently falling to them 4-6 in the 2023 season at home in Duluth.

Bulldog baseball is set to play all five of their final regular season games next week at home against the Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears and the University of Mary Marauders. The first pitch against CSP is currently scheduled for Tuesday, Apr. 30, at 1:30 PM.
