Dixon Earns NSIC Pitcher of the Week Honor
University of Minnesota Duluth softball senior pitcher Lauren Dixon earned her second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week honor Monday for her in league performance last week.
The native of Sobieski, Wis. native went 3-0 in three starts and completed all three games to bring her grand total to 20 on the season. Dixon recorded 27 strikeouts, including 14 against Minnesota State University, Moorhead on Saturday -- tying her for the second most she's thrown this season. The standout pitcher allowed just one earned run in three appearances -- which included two shutouts and only 11 total hits in 20 innings of work.
Dixon has started in all 25 of her appearances so far this season and currently owns a record of 19-5. With a ERA of 1.48, Dixon has a NSIC-leading 201 strikeouts in 158.0 innings pitched.
The Bulldogs return home to Duluth to finish out the regular season this weekend against MInot State University and the University of Mary. Stay tuned to UMDBulldogs.com for updates on possible game days/times changes.
