Undergraduate students in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) are getting paid research experience during the summer, allowing them the time and freedom to explore topics of interest, ranging from breast cancer treatments to invasive species. The Maroon Loon was legendary at UMD men’s hockey games from 1981 until 2005. Fans thought they might never see the Loon again after its final appearance at the Bulldogs' last game at the DECC arena on December 4, 2010.
