
Bulldogs arrive: UMD kicks off Move-In and Welcome Week
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) is rolling out a big Bulldog welcome for new students this week, with a full slate of events designed to ease their transition to campus and build community from day one.
New student move-in starts Wednesday, August 20, with Bulldog Welcome Week programming continuing through Sunday, August 24. The following week, the rest of campus joins for Welcome Back Week, offering another series of fun, community-building events centered around the start of the semester on Monday, August 25.
Bulldog Welcome Week– August 20 – 24, 2025
The full Bulldog Welcome Week schedule is available online, but here are a few key events to highlight.
- New student move-in days
- 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 & Thursday, August 21
UMD residence halls
Students arrive on campus for official Move-In days!
- 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 & Thursday, August 21
- Bulldog Bash
- 12 – 3 p.m. | Thursday, August 21
Ordean Court
Carnival-style event where students play games and get to know their peers.
- 12 – 3 p.m. | Thursday, August 21
- Chancellor's Welcome and Bulldog Welcome Week Kickoff
- 4 – 5 p.m. | Thursday, August 21
Romano Gym
Chancellor Nies and student leaders will address the new class.

- Community Engagement
- 2:30 – 5:30 p.m. | Saturday, August 23
Community Project Sites
Students complete a short community service project and afterwards get treated to a unique Duluth experience. From beautification work and Riding the Alpine Slide at Spirit Mountain to a Scenic Railroad cleanup and museum visit, Bulldogs will be all over town, making a difference as well as new friends and memories.

Malosky Stadium
A fun frenzy of student games and activities on the field on the first Saturday evening in Duluth for our new students.
