Why did you choose UMD?
I chose UMD because when I toured it for the first time I instantly connected with the school. I loved the culture and creativity that UMD featured. The campus is a perfect size for students, it's just small enough to encourage connecting with the faculty but big enough to meet new people. UMD has a beautiful campus that motivates students to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
What do you like most about your programs?
The faculty is my favorite part by far, they teach classes that are engaging and challenging. Connecting with my professors and hearing about their personal experiences has been super helpful in navigating my own career path.
What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?
I had the opportunity to intern with the Duluth Planned Parenthood Health Center this semester through the "Internship in Psychology" course at UMD. It has been an amazing experience, between getting involved with the community and volunteering at the Planned Parenthood community outreach events. Planned Parenthood is an organization that I have always supported so being able to work with them has been phenomenal.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
Time management is a super helpful skill to utilize and will aid you so much in the long run. I find this especially useful during midterms and finals week. Also, making sure to take time to engage in activities that bring you joy is a great way to relax a bit during these busy times.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My favorite thing to do is read. I love a good murder mystery book. I also love to play volleyball and am the captain of an intramural volleyball team on campus, which has been a great way to connect with new people. I love cooking and challenging myself with new recipes in the kitchen as well!
