CEHSP student spotlight: Meridith Grob
Why did you choose UMD?
I chose UMD because of the location. There are so many fun small towns nearby to visit for a weekend or day trip, and there are so many outdoor activities to do nearby. The lake walk is my favorite for walks, runs, bike rides, sea glass finding, and sitting by the lake.
What do you like most about your programs?
One thing that I like most about the CSD program is we get to treat clients our first semester on campus AND we get two off-site placements to gain additional experience before graduating and going into the real working world.
What has been your most meaningful experience at UMD so far?
My most meaningful experience so far at UMD is how personable and welcoming the clinical supervisors and professors are in our program. It is really valuable to have an open-door policy that allows us students to ask questions as they arise. Having all our supervisors and professors within the same hallway allows us to build strong relationships with them outside of the clinic and classroom time.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
My advice for incoming students is: prioritize your sleep, spend time with people you love, go outside at least once every day, and take time to breathe, everything will get done.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside, playing with my dogs, working out, and engaging in self-care.
