- 1:342016 NSIC Women's Cross Country Champion - UMD's Emi TrostEmi Trost, who ran off with her first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference individual title over the weekend, has been chosen the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week for NCAA Divison II. It marks the second time the University of Minnesota Duluth junior All-American has been so honored during the 2016 season (with the other citation coming on Oct. 10). She now becomes the Bulldogs' first ever multi-recipient of this award.Trost, a native of Goodhue, Minn., outran 134 other competitors at Saturday's 6K race, clocking in at 19:51.4. That was three seconds ahead of runnerup Alexis Zeis from the University of Mary, the defending NCAA II and NSIC champion. Trost, who captured the Lewis University Conference Crossover crown earlier this month, helped lead the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at the NSIC meet in Sioux Falls, S.D.
